What is Istikhara Dua?

Istikhara Dua is a powerful prayer for seeking guidance from Allah in making important decisions. The term “Istikhara” is derived from the Arabic word “Khair,” which means good or goodness. When faced with a decision, whether it pertains to marriage, career, or any significant life choice, Muslims perform the Istikhara prayer to seek Allah’s guidance and blessing.

Get rewarded with assets when you spend.

Istikhara Dua holds immense importance in Islam. It is a means to seek Allah’s help in making the right choices and ensuring that the path taken is beneficial. Istikhara Dua in Arabic

Translation of Istikhara Dua

“O Allah, I seek Your guidance (in making a choice) by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by virtue of Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power, I have none. And You know, I know not. You are the Knower of hidden things. O Allah, if in Your knowledge, this matter (mention your matter) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and my affairs, then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if in Your knowledge it is bad for me and for my religion, my livelihood, and my affairs, then turn me away from it, and turn it away from me, and ordain for me the good wherever it may be and make me pleased with it.”

When to Perform Istikhara Dua

Istikhara can be performed at any time, but it is best done at night before going to bed. This allows for a peaceful state of mind and the possibility of receiving a clear sign in a dream. However, it is important to note that Istikhara is not limited to dreams; signs can come in various forms, such as a strong inclination towards a decision or an unexpected turn of events.

Common Misconceptions About Istikhara Dua

Istikhara Guarantees a Dream:
While many people expect a dream, guidance can come in different forms.
Istikhara Can Be Delegated:
Only the individual facing the decision should perform Istikhara, as it is a personal request for guidance.
Istikhara Replaces Effort:
One should still do their due diligence and seek advice from knowledgeable individuals.
